In T-minus 5…4…3…2…1… Let’s do this!!
Ready or not the holidays are here! For the next couple of months, we will be going going going trying to get everything ready for each holiday. For those in denial, Mother Nature is changing her colors and preparing herself for winter. The days are now getting shorter. And we’re beginning to see the neighborhoods light up and the yards are being filled with the Christmas spirit. On the outside, the world looks so peaceful. But if we look in the windows of our neighbors we might see something completely different. Chaos and stress!! Our neighbors might be struggling to try to get everything done. And if we look through another neighbor's window, we might see a widow mourning the loss of her husband. She is snuggled in her blanket, watching tv, feeling lonely and sad. This isn’t her first holiday without him.
This time of year can be hard for some. We need to be courteous and respectful while we are out. We don’t know what they are dealing with and their bitterness might be how they are dealing with it. If you know of someone who needs a friend invite them into your family. Share the holidays with them and don’t allow them to be alone.
Thanksgiving prep tips:
Your house doesn’t need to be perfect - take 15 minutes each day this week to tidy up. Put away the visible things. Don’t worry about anything people won't see while they are there.
The night before vacuum and bathrooms. Focus on the sink and toilet. Close the shower curtain so they can’t see the tub.
Grocery shop soon- get the food needed for the meal. If you're having a small get-together go simple on the meal. It doesn’t have to be the traditional Thanksgiving it can be a soup or casserole. The point of Thanksgiving is gathering the family together.
Don’t have time for decorating then don’t. I feel that the world put too must pressure on presentation.
Go simple on preparing the meal. If you don’t have time to make dessert buy it premade. Don’t add unneeded stress on yourself.
Uno or cards are a simple activity that will bring the family together, talking and laughing.
Make the holidays enjoyable, not dreadful…. Simplify things so you are able to enjoy them too.
If you are the guest, offer to bring something. Appreciate all they did for the day.
Love is patient. Love is kind
Have a wonderful holiday season!
