Have you ever thought I want to be successful?
What would it take to get me there?
If I only had…
Success really depends on you. Are you going to be happy with the life you have, or are you going to continue to look at others and wish you had the same?
The world gives us a false sense of security. It tells us in order to be successful, we have to have a prestigious job, be rich, and have a huge house or an expensive car. People strive to be successful, thinking that this will bring them happiness. But is that real success? Sure, people who have these extravagant things live great lives. They might even think I’ve made it. But that’s their outer appearance. What they hide is what’s going on inside. To have that glamorous life, they might be working themselves out of a marriage or maybe using drugs or alcohol to cope with things. By the world standards, they are successful, but they are failing miserably behind closed doors.
Your happiness should define your success. When you go to bed, you can rest easy because you had a great day. How is your family life? Are your loved ones happy too? When you define it through your emotions, you get a more accurate view of how life is. Success is in the eye of the beholder.
In order to be successful, we need to strive to be our best. Best spouse. Best parent. Best friend. Best worker. You need to be in the present for your future to have value. And when you do, blessings come from it.
We need to remember when we entered this world, we had nothing. When we leave, we will leave with nothing too. We aren’t here to live the prestigious life. We are here to live the life God gave us. We need to enjoy the little moments as much as the big ones. We need to embrace this life instead of looking for the next big thing. How are we to enjoy our accomplishments when we are thinking of the next step of success? Matthew 6:21 says, For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Let your value of success be determined by today. So you can have a better tomorrow.
